Introduction
Ooty is a mesmerizing hill station located at an altitude of 7440 feet in the Nilgiris of Tamilnadu State. Ooty is also known as Queen of Hills. It is the most beautiful hill station in India. The greenlands views of this hill station look more attractive. In the hill station the weather is always shooting and the forests, green Meadows, waterfalls, sparkling grasslands, and the enchanted colonial architecture always looked beautiful.
For families, Ooty is the perfect place to visit. Ooty is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From Mettupalayam to Ooty there’s the toy train which is known as Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Hence, on the way from Bangalore to Ooty there are a bunch of places to visit.
Srirangapatna:
Srirangapatna is an ancient historical town which is situated in Mandya district of Karnataka. The Srirangapatna town is known for its historic, religious, and cultural importance. It is the most well known heritage in Karnataka from the topmost places to visit near Mysore. The monumental town has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition there are others places to visit like
Ranganathaswamy temple, Daria Daulat which is the palace of Tippu Sultan, Gumbaz (Mausoleum of Tipu Sultan), Nimishamba Temple, Sangama, Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary etc.
Mysore:
Mysore is also known as the City of Places which is the most popular tourist spot in Karnataka, South India. The Mysore palace is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. And for its well known heritage it is the main highlighted place of the city. The heritage sites are Chamundi Hills, Jaganmohan Palace, Mysore Zoo, Brindavan Gardens, and Karanji Lake, etc. Apart from these famous places , Mysore city is itself a great place to visit in between September to October which attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.
Nanjangud Temple:
Nanjangud temple is located on the banks of river Kapila. Srikanteshwara temple is one of the most popular places of pilgrimage in Karnataka. On the way to Ooty from Bangalore there are the best places to visit. Devoted to Lord Shiva the Nanjangud temple is built in Dravidian style architecture. The temple has 125 feet tall Gopura along with the seven gold kalashas. The best religious place to visit near Mysore is Dodda Jaathre. And there is a festival held every year at the end of March.
Gopalaswamy Betta:
Gopalaswamy Betta is a beautiful and lofty hill situated in the top area of the Bandipur national park. Its altitude is 1450 metres. It’s also famous as Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta. This hill is the highest hill in Bandipur national park. In 1315 AD King Chola Ballala had built the national park. The peak is popular for the Gopalaswamy temple to deity Lord Krishna.
The place is surrounded by hills which have the best views at the time of sunrise and sunset from the top of the peak that is the most attractive for all the tourists. This place is also famous for trekking in Karnataka. In the month of March and April, an annual car festival is held here for 7 days.
Bandipur National Park:
Bandipur National Park is located on the Ooty highway. It is the most popular wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka amongst the visitors. Once the park was the hunting grounds for the Maharaja of Mysore. It was established as a reserve in 1974 under the Project Tiger. Now it is India’s biggest biosphere reserve which is called the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve.
And later it was along with Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamilnadu, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala and Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka. The area is covered around 874 sq.km. The park has around 70 tigers, around 4000 Asian elephants, leopards, dhole, gaur, sloth bears, and a variety of birds. In there is always ready jeep safari is one of the best things to do to.
Mudumalai Wildife Sanctuary:
The Madumalai wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most famous wildlife sanctuaries in Tamilnadu. On the way to Ooty from Bangalore there are some best place to visit. Madumalai wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the border of Karnataka and Kerala joined to the Bandipura national park in Kerala, Karnataka.
It was established in 1949. And it is the first sanctuary in South India. Ans later it was declared as national park in 1990. Aftermath the Tamilnadu state government decided Mudamalai as a tiger reserve in April, 2007. Thre are so many animals to stay like
21 species of amphibians, 50 species of fishes, 200 species of birds, 34 species of reptiles, and 50 species of mammals.
